Chopped strand mat is made from fiberglass strands chopped to different lengths and bonded in one of two ways, either powder or emulsion. It is the most common form of reinforcement.

 

Application

Chopped strand mat is used primarily for hand lay-up processes, filament winding and press mould of FRP products including bathroom accessories, pipes, automobiles and other building applications.

Storage

  • The best conditions are temperatures between 15 and 35 degrees C and at a relative humidity between 50 and 75%, If the product is transported or stored at low temperatures (below 18 degrees C) or high temperatures (above 35 degrees C), it is advisable to condition it in the workshop at 20-25 degrees C for at least 72 hours before use to prevent condensation.Storage
  • If these conditions are respected, fiberglass products should not undergo significant changes when stored for extended periods of time
