Vermiculite coated glass rope

Description

  • Vermiculite coated on fiberglass rope improve the abrasion resistance and stiffness
  • It¡¯s tough, durable and resist metal splash and welding spatter
  • Used at 1500¡ãF / 815¡ãC continuous
  • Capable of withstanding temperatures of 2000¡ãF / 1093¡ãC for short periods

A specially formulated, fine vermiculite dispersion that encapsulate the glass fibers and greatly increases resistance to abrasion and temperature. In tests, fiberglass tape coated with vermiculite has retained its integrity after exposure to a propane blowtorch for 60 minutes at temperatures of 1100O C. However the tape does become brittle locally after exposure to these extreme temperatures and are not recommended for applications where flexibility is important at high temperatures

Common applications

Used for making gaskets on a variety of industrial and commercial boilers, ovens, furnaces. Used as a high temperature packing for shaft seals. Also used for residential wood and pellet stoves.

1500¡ãF / 815¡ãC continuous rating, high insulation value & excellent personnel protection
